About
Brian Fitzpatrick is a 4-time award winning author, speaker, and lecturer.
Fitzpatrick started writing short stories at the young age of 7 after accidentally watching the original Night of the Living Dead late one night. Once he pushed through a week of sleepless nights, he grew fascinated that he could be so scared, yet still be safe. He put pen to paper and began feverishly writing horror short stories on everything from vampires to zombies to aliens. He grew up absorbing Spielberg, Carpenter, Lucas, King, and Barker.
With a 15+ year career in telecomm dedicated to technology for local hospitals, a curiosity for the paranormal with his team of investigators, and an extensive background of storytelling in table top role-playing games, Fitzpatrick primed himself for a career in writing horror, science fiction, and action.
Into adulthood, Fitzpatrick turned his focus to screenwriting where he would go on to place in the quarterfinals of 3 of the biggest contests the industry has to offer. He then converted his most popular screenplay, Mechcraft, into a novel he released through hybrid publisher, Inkshares, and that went on to place quarterfinals in a novel contest by one of the most respected writer organizations, Screencraft.
In the Fall of 2018, Fitzpatrick created a workshop for writers looking to publish in today’s ever-changing marketplace. With a desire to pay-it-forward, he gives the workshop for free or a small fee to cover the cost of the facility. The workshop is a comprehensive 2-3 hour group discussion on writing process, paths to publishing, and marketing methods.
He also participates in book signings and panel discussions at a variety of local events. The next is a writer panel on July 27th at Muzeo in Anaheim.
